The Mission of the Society in general is to acquaint and educate its members and the public as to the principles, ideals and standards of personal conduct exemplified in the private and public life of Sir Thomas More: lawyer and scholar, a learned wit, author, humanist, theologian, justice of the peace, envoy and diplomat; a devout father, educator and family man; High steward of Oxford University and of Cambridge University, Member of Parliament and Speaker of the House of Commons, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster; member of the King’s Council and Lord chancellor of England; a man imprisoned and put to death for conscience sake, and a Saint.
