On Monday, June 22, 2020, we celebrated Thomas More’s Feast Day by broadcasting video straight from Washington, D.C.!
At St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Capitol Hill, Rev. William H. Gurnee III celebrated mass and visited the statue of Thomas More to read this prayer written by Howard Thomas Markey (1920-2006), member of the Thomas More Society of America and Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit:
St. Thomas be our advocate and counsel before the Divine tribunal that alone is without error. Bespeak for us the wisdom to apply the precepts of our daily lives. Intercede for us that we may emulate the sense of humor which made your heart echo with the mirth of heaven. Pray that we may spurn false paths and live as you did, faithful to our faith, even though by doing so we may he called upon to sacrifice our all as you sacrificed yours. These things seek for us through the merits of Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
